Act III of A Raisin in the Sun is powerful--we'll watch it today, although yesterday students read the Act in small groups. Today they'll continue to work on study questions, the character map, and maybe even finish their personal responses. Yesterday we watched a short video clip of Phylicia Rashaad talking about how she viewed the character of Lena Younger in the play (link) and she gives some great insight into how to think about characters in literature as real people.
Next week students will work in the computer lab on two assignments that will require them to sign up for http://www.xtranormal.com/ (Monday) and http://www.glogster.com/(Thursday). They should do this before coming to class--and, as always, the yearbook computers in my room are available before school, during seminar, and after school. Both assignments will be turned in at the end of the hour, so being able to work on the sites during class is critical.
Remember that tomorrow is SSR time in class--students will be assessed over their reading next Thursday.
