First down!

One marking period down and 3 to go--it sounds cliche, but the year is flying by. Today my 2nd and 3rd hour classes took their exam. As we do in the ELA department, the mid-term and semester exams are reading skills tests. We use 3 ACT practice passages with approximately 30 questions. It will give us all (students, parents, and teacher) an idea of how well the students read.

I am in the process of grading PBL assessments. Because of the Great mp3 Disaster of 2012 (!) I am being very  lenient about student's recordings. Most students were very flexible and showed a lot of perseverance  but many still couldn't send me their podcasts, so I will basically excuse this part of the project.

Mrs. Steffes and I had professional development time yesterday to work on our ELA 11 curriculum and we were given some clarification about Project Based Learning assessments--and Look Out! Our projects for the second and third marking periods are fantastic.

Work due by Friday for credit this marking period: typed FANBOYS re-writes and short story test Correct & Reflect.
