Closing the book

Today is our last day in the computer lab for working on this marking period's PBL. It's my hope (and our intention!) that students were able to recognize the power of stories in our lives as they worked with our guiding question: How can stories shape our lives? We'll be closing this marking period and turning the page to our next reading selection, Lord of the Flies.

We'll do a bit of housekeeping tomorrow when we return to the room; Wednesday students will finish the film Freedom Writers, another powerful narrative about telling our stories. Our exam in ELA 11 is a reading skills test; students will reading 3 ACT-like reading passages and answer questions. This will give parents,  students, and me an idea of how proficient they are on a timed reading test.

It's hard to believe the first marking period is almost over and we are quickly approaching the holidays! And snow is in the forecast for Tuesday ...
