On the right track?

The last big essay of the year: a researched argument. Students were introduced to argument last marking period and their oral argument served as a sort of pre-writing opportunity for this research paper. Today we reviewed argument form (to view the Prezi link here) and students began drafting their essay in class. I collected the drafts (2 paragraphs minimum) at the end of the hour--mostly to encourage kids to use their time wisely, but also to give me the opportunity to give the beginning of their essay a quick look-over to see that they're on the right track. Tomorrow students will return to the computer lab to begin typing their essays. We have a only a few scheduled days in the computer lab--enough for students to draft their essay. Revisions and editing will need to be homework next week. The final essay is due Monday 4/23.
