Looking through a lens

Students began to think about how Maslow's hierarchy of needs connects to happiness. Today they read a brief introduction to his research and brainstormed different ways in which we can meet each of those needs. We are not applying this to A Raisin in the Sun yet, just our own lives. It is a fascinating lens for looking at happiness. You can link to the article here (link).

Use class time wisely! It's written on the front board and I remind students each day to plan how they will accomplish the several assignments they have for each act of the play: vocabulary, content questions, and character mapping. Today we had (in addition to the brainstorming about Maslow) about 15-20 minutes to work. Ask to see how much your student has accomplished so far.
