Sharp focus

Another ACT practice passage--this time in reading. One of the most difficult issues students have with the ACT is the time factor. I've been timing kids as we work through our ACT practice, hoping that they'll become more comfortable and adept. We'll also start another round of Articles of the Week today. Our AOWs are really ACT practice, too.We've talked about and practiced close reading every week; kids have learned to annotate the text--all in hopes of improving reading skills. But in the end, the thing that improves scores most is ... reading! So encouraging your junior to read is critical.
On another note, exam grades are in and 1st semester grades are posted on Power School. New grades will be a little slow in coming--we probably won't have any scores to post for this marking period until late next week.
