Wednesday is (almost!) always Article of the Week day and today was no exception. Kids had some guidelines for annotating a provocative opinion piece from the Miami Herald. They also had some small group time to share their mentor sentences from last week and choose the best one for submitting to me. First hour had a very productive time; unfortunately, second and third hours spent more time talking and goofing off than they did working. I was continually "on" them to stay on task.
I also met with each student today about their grade--some students still have work from the first week to make up! They are failing for no reason other than they just haven't done some initial "housekeeping" tasks where points were given for simply completing the task. Parent access for Power School will be up and running next week--but feel free to email me any time to inquire about your teen's grade.
