ACT Prep

The ACT, part of the Michigan Merit Exam, is one of the standardized tests all juniors in Michigan take--you might remember it from your own high school days. While most of us drove across town to another high school and filed into the cafeteria with 100 other testers, your teen will have the relative (!) comfort of taking the test at CPHS in a small group of 25 students. Much less intimidating. Because this test will impact students post-high school, we spend several days becoming familiar with the ACT. In ELA our tests cover English, reading, and writing.

We're taking a short break from our normal schedule and focusing on our  first of these practice sessions. Today we looked at an overview of the test--students got a printout of the Powerpoint intro and it is also available on my Moodle course. After the intro, we settled in and I read aloud The Glass Castle. Tomorrow, it's on to more ACT practice!
