ELA 11
Today introduced the second reading strategy students will use when reading this semester. Then, I read the new reading assignment aloud for about 20 minutes to get kids started. After that they had time to either continue reading or complete the reading strategy entry assigned for homework. First hour worked very well and got a lot done; second hour did very little and spent most of the hour talking. We will be wrapping up the novel by 3/18; next week we'll make some connections between Fahrenheit 451 and WALL-E .

AP Language
We looked over the student model of the researched argument that I distributed last Friday and students tried to label the parts of the essays using their notes. Then they had an opportunity to exchange articles and discuss with other students working on the same topic. This weekend (as they should have done last weekend) students will need to spend some time getting resources from a public library. Next week--notes!
