ELA 11
First and second hours drafted their persuasive essay drafts in the computer lab--both classes worked well. Tomorrow we will return to add some elements to the essays and print them for peer critique on Friday. Friday is also an extended reading day: students will have approximately 30 minutes to read a book of their choice.
Sixth hour worked on a persuasive essay today, written by a teacher in the Free Soil district. They annotated the essay for persuasive features and took an open note reading quiz.
AP Language
We looked at two poems today: "The Passionate Shepherd to His Love" and "The Nymphs Reply". Believe it or not, poetry can be an argument! Students began their last reading assignment in this first argument unit: "Where I Lived and What I Lived For" by Henry David Thoreau. They'll need to finish reading tonight--tomorrow we will begin a study guide on the essay. Monday Nov. 22 is the final argument test. (And rhetorical analysis essays are due this Friday.)
Yearbook
Students continue working on their spreads--tomorrow will be the last day in the computer lab before the Spread I deadline. This deadline is 50 points or 0--no late grades given.
