I can almost see the wheels spinning as students plan their PBL: a character campaign they could carry out in school. It's probably our most involved PBL this year and while we also have more time to work in school, more time will be required on their own. So you just might see your students working on brochures, posters, bumper stickers, public service announcements, tee shirts, or any other number of components. Here's where you can find the directions (link); I'll hand out the rubric tomorrow and kids will continue to plan and write their proposal. In addition, there's a presentation this time around--I'll talk more about this in early December.
We also had the first reading quiz today for Lord of the Flies. Check that grade out and you'll have a better idea (as will students) how carefully your student is reading. Some kids have asked if they can re-take the quiz, but (for now) I see this as a check that they can also use to check for understanding. This week the reading load is heavier--about 60 pages due next Monday. See the calendar for due dates (link).
