Almost ...

Only two weeks left in the first marking period--it's hard to believe we're almost half way through the first semester. While PBL is continuing, we went back to our usual schedule for today: kids took a vocab quiz and worked on another Article of the Week. I handed back AOWs from 2 weeks ago with my evaluation of each students' mastery of the concepts we work on with this weekly assignment--identifying main idea and supporting details. It's obvious that some students have a clear understanding of this and others, not so much. Look for your student's grade on 10/7 in Powerschool--scores range from 5 (not proficient) to 15 (proficient) points--to see where they fall.

You should also see your student working on a couple things at home. They should be revising their This I Believe essays if grades are lower than 75%. Students also need to record themselves reading their essays and upload the recording to their blog post. Most students will use Youtube for this, but some (especially those more technically savvy kids!) can create a podcast. Final due date for their blog PBL is next Tuesday, October 29.
