Monday Monday

The weather is gorgeous, the year's end is closing in, and kids (and teachers!) are just a little distracted. I couldn't get this song from my childhood out of my mind this morning (link). !

Today I asked that students plan the next several class days. Mrs. Steffes and I agreed on class work time for the project for a number of reasons--add 'athletics' and 'after-school jobs' to the ones listed at the beginning of this post and you'll begin to understand what teachers are up against this time of year. So a big chunk of time for project work has become part of our agenda at the end of the year. I ask students to create a plan so that their expectations aren't unrealistic and they can also guage just how much they can accomplish in class. Here's an example of what a plan might look like (link); we went over it in class today.

I will also have time to conference with students about their research paper and/or Works Cited page--sign ups tomorrow! Let's make the next few weeks as productive as possible--and stay on top of those grades.
