Moodle Monday and beyond

A couple short weeks of school and then it's off for a long winter's nap break! Today is Moodle Monday and I found some great extensions for students. Kids watched a short 3-minute video of Andrew Zimmern (of Bizarre Foods fame) on a wild boar hunt in Hawaii and a wonderful interactive game on the Nobel Prize website. Kids worked on their PBL campaigns for the duration of the hour.

Our focus this week will be "What makes good writing?" Tomorrow I'll return in-class writes students completed last week and I'll distribute a model of an exemplary essay--all in hopes of helping students analyze their own writing and make adjustments for improvement. Wednesday students will do pre-writing for another in-class write in the computer lab on Thursday. This time they'll revise the essay on their own using a slide presentation I'll post to Moodle later this week. The final essay will be due on Friday Dec. 21.
