I am having quite the time remembering to blog this year for some reason or other! I apologize for not sticking to my "every other day" promise. I'll do a better job next week.
Students continued their ELA 11 weekly schedule with Tuesday's language and poetry and Wednesday's vocab quiz and Article of the Week (AOW). I collected Writer's Notebooks today so I can give kids some feedback by Monday--they had daily reminders to bring their WN to class, I had some to sell, and they also had time in class to complete the entries. If you see a "0" when grades are entered, you might want to investigate. Thursday kids did some previewing of short stories and were to choose one to work with next week. (You might ask which story your student will read.)
Tomorrow students will have their first Sustained Silent Reading day--they're expected to have a book in class each Friday and we'll spend about 40+ minutes quietly reading. The book they choose should be at a high school or adult reading level and appropriate for writing about in class. I had one student jokingly ask (I hope!) if they could read 50 Shades of Gray. *gulp* Let's hope not!
