As I mentioned on Monday, I am lucky enough to be part of a team of CPHS teachers (Mr. Staublin, Mrs. Weber, Ms. Dalton, and myself) who applied--and were awarded!--a technology grant called Michigan Champions. Now technically, there is no "1st place" here--we're just the lucky recipients of a grant sponsored by MACUL, the Michigan Association for Computers Users in Learning. This grant offers us some great opportunities. We will attend the 2 day MACUL conference this year and next, a tech mentor will visit us on-site this spring to help us develop our use of technology in the classroom, we will attend a two-day summer training session, and also take an online technology class. The stipend also pays for subs in our classrooms, so this training is at no cost to CPHS. Because technology is changing so rapidly and the new Common Core Curriculum requires teachers to use Web 2.0 for instruction and assessment, this grant is one way we can move forward implementing technology in our classrooms in a way that's beneficial to students. I can't wait to share everything I learn--and no matter that there is no trophy or ribbon involved ... I feel like a winner!
