Students linked to some short readings that should clarify some of the symbols in the novel
Fahrenheit 451. Ask them about the mythical significance of the hearth, salamander, and phoenix--and how they think those images are significant to our story. I also posted a quiz for Part I of the novel. Students have 30 minutes to complete the quiz and are allowed 2 attempts with 30 minutes in between.
This week students will also give themselves some last minute reminders about writing for the ACT. Tomorrow they'll look over and revise an in-class write they did last month; Wednesday they'll complete another ACT write. The test is fast approaching in early March and I want to give them every opportunity to improve those scores.
