I gave an introduction to Lord of the Flies today--the Powerpoint is also available on my Moodle course. I also asked that students go to a study site to preview the novel; unfortunately, no one has taken me up on that yet! While sites such as Gradesaver shouldn't become a substitute for reading, they do provide valuable support for higher-level novels.

Our focus question for this unit is "When does a positive personality trait become a tragic flaw?". And we see a lot of flaws in this novel. Students should be through Chapter 3 by Monday's class; they can expect to read three chapters a week.
