Under construction
Students added yet another short story to their tool box; more reading should lead to more possibilities for insightful PBL. Tomorrow students will begin to plan the work for their project in an organized format: a calendar and a project work report. I will periodically ask them to add to the work report to assess how well they are using their time, both in school and at home. Hour 1 was quite distracted today and I had to remind them repeatedly to stay on task; hours 2 and 3 did better, but still talked more than work. My response to kids who are off-task is that while they might do fine completing their work outside of school, they may be interfering with a classmate's ability to concentrate. It certainly won't be quiet in our classroom over the next few weeks that we are working ... but it should be productive noise.
