The focus for this nine weeks is the question: How can stories shape our lives? Students have read several stories so far this year--both fiction and nonfiction. Today I began reading the memoir
The Glass Castle; I'll continue to read aloud this riveting memoir a couple times a week for 15 minutes or so in class. I have also asked students to expand their idea of just what a story is--all religions tell stories, movies, songs, and even our own lives can be thought of as a story.
Students also had 15 minutes to work on their Article of the Week #4 in class, and I think they're understanding now just what they need to demonstrate. I will collect those tomorrow. Tomorrow we'll be in the computer lab to type the write students did last week Friday in their Writer's Notebook. I'll also offer ideas for revision. Lots to do!
