ELA 11

We started by reading
Hunger Games for a chapter or two--and, finally, preparation for the Game is about to begin!
We also corrected Monday's vocab quiz and I entered the scores. Yesterday I conferenced with every student about their grade; we're in the home stretch and it's important for juniors to receive credit if they are to stay on track for graduation. I shared with kids what they could make up, needed to turn in, etc. Many of my students made use of the past couple days to correct and reflect their reading quiz--good job! Reading check #2 is on Tuesday, Ch. 4-6.

Today is one of our last Socratic Seminars--and so many good topics to discuss! The kids went from discussing whether or not we get what we deserve to karma to volunteering to Extreme Home Makeover to Osama Bin Laden to Bernie Madoff ... and, yes, it all grew from ideas expressed in
Silas Marner. This is one of our last discussions of the year and I will miss listening to the kids think out loud and bounce ideas off each other.
