Planning ahead

ELA 11 & AP Language juniors
Our guests today were counselors Mr. Holland and Mrs. McCambridge. Since ACT scores have arrived in your mailboxes, it is a great time to talk about planning for post-secondary education, whether it is a college or trade school. Mrs. McCambridge started with a great activity. Kids were asked a series of questions about the type of life they'd like to live and had them estimate how much money they think they'd need to sustain that lifestyle. Quite eye-opening! She also gave students an excerpt from Parade Magazine's latest "How much do they make?" article. Also covered was the college application process and financial aid. Mrs. McCambridge encouraged students to go on some local college visits this spring break.

[AP Language seniors had time to work on their research papers and conference with me.]
