Down to business

ELA 11
This week will see students getting settling into our first reading unit. Because of the snow days, they will have a little extra work until things even out. I do give class time for students to begin their assignments on most days--and I will ask students to work quietly on independent work (reading and journals). Some students don't have the option of completing all their work at home due to family obligations, work, athletic practices and games, etc. Because of this, I need to offer those students a classroom environment that is conducive to getting work done. Your student may chaff at being asked for quiet, but it is only respectful we all provide an atmosphere where work can get done.

This is also a great time to remind you that class materials, as well as a monthly calendar, can be found on my Moodle page at <http://moodle.remc8.k12.mi.us>  Parents should enter as a guest; students need to enroll in the course with the enrollment key READ.

AP Language
After the vocabulary quiz today, we continued with Act III.  Students seem to be doing well with the play--I actually recommend that they go to a site that gives background information and literary criticism. My favorite is <www.cummingsstudyguides.net> Shakespeare is difficult reading and the more help we get, the deeper our understanding.
