Four down ...

ELA 11
Today we talked about the pitfalls of internet searches and the difference between open and closed searches. Because anyone can publish on the web and not all sources are equally reliable, we will use a closed search for our research project this year. Students can access many databases through KDL (Kent District Library) or MEL (Michigan Electronic Library); a library card or Michigan driver's license in all that is needed to access thousands of articles. Students also practiced taking notes in preparation for next week's research.

Works Cited drafts are due today, but some students handed them in yesterday. I see so much more attention to detail in the drafts I've reviewed so far--great job! We were in the computer lab today working on presentations.

Yearbook
Today I checked in with teams to see how they have distributed tasks; I also looked at some interview notes. I also gave students an overview of the exam--students will type a semester evaluation in class and will receive 50 points for the quality of their last revised spread.
