A very good place to start

ELA 11
Kids are in the computer lab typing the hand-written drafts they began yesterday. This is only a typed draft, though, and so there is no need at this time to do any extensive revision at home. This is also our 2nd essay using Google docs--although there was some initial opposition to using the platform, most have settled in nicely. And even more important: once I start commenting on the essays they share, the feedback is immediate. (Some students have a hard time staying on task in the lab, and online games can be tempting!)

AP Language
Today we discussed the essay "Women's Brains" by Stephan Jay Gould. Our discussion will spark tomorrow's Socratic Seminar, a student-directed round table of ideas and themes we've read about and how they relate to our lives. Some students will be re-writing their This I Believe essays for a better grade.

Yearbook
Students continue to work on figuring out the features of Walsworth's Online Design program--tomorrow is the real deal! Students will receive their student log-ins and work on creating their first spreads. This year's theme is "Mobile Memories" (or at least that's our working title), featuring cell phones, texts, etc. Quite relevant to kids today!
