Reading

We had a great day working on our Moodle course today--most students got a lot of reading done. This was one of the times I was able to post pre-reading and post-reading activities along with the story for today, The White Heron (link). Students in my 3rd and 5th hour will need to play a little 'catch-up' today
because they didn't have an opportunity to read the story on Friday, as my 1st hour did. Most, however, should only have the thinking questions to complete in their Writer's Notebooks--and there are only five of them.
Tomorrow we'll go on and talk a little bit about our guiding question for the marking period: How do stories shape our lives? We've obviously been reading some stories (fiction), but we'll start to write our own stories (nonfiction) this week based on a beautiful story collection called This I Believe. But more on that in my Wednesday post ...
