I hope everyone had a refreshing Spring Vacation--while I didn't go anywhere myself, it was nice to get a break from the routine ... and sleep in! I did put up the new April/May calendar this morning on Moodle--be sure to check out what's ahead

Students got right down to business today. On Wednesday they'll do an in-class write, so today they worked in groups to get some ideas down in a thinking map. Students will write about our novel,
Fahrenheit 451, the short story "Harrison Bergeron", and the movie
The Truman Show. Their task was to notice as many commonalities as they could between all three texts. We also got back on track with our Articles of the Week--today's article was chosen for all of my sleepy students
(link), "Sleep Deprivation Has Genetic Consequences, Study Find."
Tonight's homework? Finish the thinking map (it should be in the Writer's Notebook) and
annotate the AOW, showing evidence of close reading. I'll collect the annotations tomorrow.
