I was absent yesterday (no, I wasn't hunting!) so I opened class asking if anyone had questions about their reading of Lord of the Flies. Today is an SSR day, and while students are reading, I'll go around and be sure they understand the Double Entry reading strategy. They were supposed to have done their first entry yesterday, but what with a sub and all the results varied from hour to hour.

Students should read through chapter 6 by next Monday when we'll have a reading quiz over that assignment. Our short week will fly by and before you know it we'll have a 5 day "weekend"! Kids won't have any out-of-the-ordinary work except to continue reading Lord of the Flies.
