Tomorrow is the first day of fall and the past few days have felt like it. My post title can be found on posters in libraries all over the country. And that's just what I hope students did today--and will continue to do during Sustained Silent Reading on Fridays. Studies have long been available that tell us students who read well will be more successful in school
and go further in their education than students who read poorly. But while so much focus is put on just
getting teens to read more, I think it's also important to encourage high school students to read at an appropriate level. This link provides an interesting perspective
(link) that kids need to be reading at a higher level. Encourage your teen to stretch their minds.
