Open a book

ELA 11
Ray Bradbury is one of the most passionate, vibrant 80-year-olds I've ever "known"--even if only by video. Today students watched a short eight minute video message from Bradbury, recounting his childhood influences and some of the values he lives by. I also introduced the first reading strategy to students--tomorrow will be our first day of reading and journaling. Both reading strategies are considered best practices and require students to interact and question the text--two of the critical thinking skills necessary to becoming a good reader. This was the first day that all my classes had a good chunk of time to read--about thirty minutes. Reading assignments are posted on the Moodle calendar which all students should have printed for planning ahead.

AP Language
Henry V continues with Act IV--things are heating up now and Act IV is by far the most intense. We will also spend more time going over the play itself to work on the language.
