Research and more

ELA 11
Students took 10 minutes at the hour's beginning to brainstorm thesis statements--these will be posted in class tomorrow for students to peruse--they might find a thesis statement (or part of one) they think will work better than the one they initially wrote. We briefly reviewed note card and source card format; I also had correct source card entries posted around the room to help students write their source cards. Today I suggested students take notes on background information (which will comprise the first two paragraphs of their body).

AP Language
The last new information I have to give students about the AP test! Today I introduced the synthesis question, which is very similar to social studies' data based question or DBQ. We looked at the data given on the 2009 test and read three student essays and compared our scores with College Board's.

Yearbook
Today is spread II deadline for second stories. I will attempt to get these back to students by tomorrow, Friday at the latest. Additional revisions will be part of students' exam grade.
